• St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Atlanta

    St. Patrick’s Day is just a week away, taking place on March 17th. Many Atlanta residents celebrate this holiday by taking a road trip to Savannah, which is known nationwide for their elaborate St. Patrick’s day celebrations. St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, GA is definitely something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime, however, considering most everyone is cutting back on expenses and living on a tight budget, this year may not be the year. Instead, make plans to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day at home in Atlanta.

    Residents of the intown Atlanta townhomes at Liberty Park are lucky to live so close to downtown Atlanta because you’ll be right in the middle of action, which kicks off this weekend, March 13th, with the annual parade. The Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the oldest St. Patrick’s Day festivals in Georgia. The parade dates back to 1858 and the 2010 celebration marks the 128th parade in Atlanta over the past 152 years.

    Coach Vince Dooley will be the Grand Marshal of the parade and Moby in the Morning will serve as the Celebrity Emcee. Other parade units will include the 501st Storm Trooper and Rebel Legions, American Royal Miss, Pipes and Drums, Budweiser Clydesdales, Coca-Cola, Drake School of Irish Dance and many many more.     The parade will kickoff on Saturday March 13 at noon on at the corner of Peachtree Street and Ralph McGill. Then it will continue down Peachtree and turn onto Decatur Street to finish in Underground Atlanta, the site of the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Festival.

    The festival begins on Friday night, March 12th and concludes on Saturday. They’ll have live entertainment from three different stages all weekend long, including a U2 tribute band and Atlanta Irish Dance Troupe. Plus, they will have a Kids Zone with a vendor market and interactive activities tailored to children.
