It’s time once again for the Cherokee County Indian Festival and Mother’s Day Pow Wow. Now in its 21st year, the celebration has become one of Cherokee County’s most anticipated and popular events with over 7,000 attendees expected. It’s a two day festival that takes place during Mother’s Day weekend, meaning the 2010 event will be on Saturday, May 8th 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday, May 9th from 11 am to 6pm.
The event is fun for the whole family and filled with exciting activities like a bike show, drum competition, iron man competition, American Indian dance competition, re-enactments, tipi competition, primitive skills demonstrations, warriors on horseback, reptile show, birds of prey, hoop dancers, Aztec dancers, live buffalo, arts and crafts, authentic food (like gator tail and roasted corn), kids activities and so much more!
The admission is only $9 for adults and $5 for children; however, kids aged 5 and under are free. All proceeds from the event benefit animal rescue and Haiti relief through the Lutheran World Relief. Don’t miss the Indian Festival as it is the perfect opportunity to have some fun, learn about our nation’s history and culture and help out a great cause.
The festival is at Boling Park in Canton, which is only a short drive up I-575 from Woodstock. As you know, Sharp Residential builds two new home communities in Woodstock: Lakestone and Olde Heritage.
