Are your Independence Day plans still up in the air? Beat the crowds of Atlanta with a down-home celebration at Woodstock’s FreedomFest, which will be held Saturday, July 3rd.
More fun than a backyard barbecue, the FreedomFest will begin with a massive parade at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at Highway 92 and runs north on Main Street to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road.
After the parade, be sure to go to downtown City Park for food, music and entertainment such as Adam the juggler and Tim the Magician. There will plenty of entertainment for kids including games, a watermelon seed spitting contest and arts and crafts. Feel free to stay and play in the park until 3 p.m. Then get the little ones home for a nap before the grand finale firework display at dusk. The firework staging area is behind the Target shopping center at Highway 92 and Interstate 575.
If you’re athletically inclined, don’t forget the Woodstock Freedom Run, which kicks off at 7:30 a.m.
