Are your Independence Day plans still up in the air? Beat the crowds of Atlanta with a down-home celebration at Woodstock’s FreedomFest, which will be held Saturday, July 3rd.
More fun than a backyard barbecue, the FreedomFest will begin with a massive parade at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at Highway 92 and runs north on Main Street to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road.
After the parade, be sure to go to downtown City Park for food, music and entertainment such as Adam the juggler and Tim the Magician. There will plenty of entertainment for kids including games, a watermelon seed spitting contest and arts and crafts. Cumming’s 4th of July celebration is so big, they need two days to host it! The festivities kick off Friday, July 2nd at the Cumming Fairgrounds and culminate Saturday afternoon with a parade.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on the lawn Friday night and enjoy the live music, fireworks and all ages dance competition. Lending to the festival atmosphere, food vendors will open at 6 p.m. Parking and admission to the event is completely free.

It’s time once again for the Cherokee County Indian Festival and Mother’s Day Pow Wow. Now in its 21st year, the celebration has become one of Cherokee County’s most anticipated and popular events with over 7,000 attendees expected. It’s a two day festival that takes place during Mother’s Day weekend, meaning the 2010 event will be on Saturday, May 8th 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday, May 9th from 11 am to 6pm.
